In the first chapter, the main character, Elliot who is a young boy, helps his father to make the necessary preparations for Hurricane Katrina, while learning the general information about hurricanes, wetlands, and levees. Elliot and his family evacuate to their summer house in the second chapter, and soon realize the seriousness of the storm when two trees hit their house the day of the hurricane. After hearing the news that the levees broke on the radio, Elliot’s family decides to go to Houston.
